Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
