Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
